Frequently Asked Questions / Terms

1. Course Eligibility - Greater Cambridgeshire and Greater Peterborough Enterprise Partnership area

• You are EMPLOYED and work in your employers premises within the appropriate postcode areas (or a company is in the area) and are employed working in Greater Cambridgeshire or Greater Peterborough (see postcode checker above)

• The company has between 10 and 249 employees

• You as the company employee/s are aged 16 +

• You are a UK or EU national and have a right to work in the UK

• Courses are open to all staff regardless of prior education level as long as their employer deems the course necessary for their company growth and it is not a duplication of any existing qualifications held 

Before any Learner can start a course with Ixion, the employer will have to have met with our team and we will have to first have conducted an ONA ( Organisational Needs Assessment). Only once the need has been agreed and matched to the ESF SFA contract can the Learners join the course.

2. What is included during each course?

Each workshop will take place over three separate days (Day 1 will be in "week 1" and the following week will be two further course sequential days. 

The Learner will be asked and required to complete in advance an English and Maths assessment to ensure learning meets your individual needs and you have the basic skill sets needed. You must be fluent in English.

During the course you will be asked to complete additional work in your work time (if agreed with employer) &/or in own time. 

You will have a dedicated Teaching Assessor who will support you as required to ensure successful completion of the course.

A course pass will secure you accredited units of training at Level 2 or 3 as appropriate

You will benefit from increased skills & will achieve unit qualifications through acceptable ongoing course assessments by our qualified Assessors.

3. What Qualifications do I need to do this course?

No formal qualifications are required. Just an appropriate command of English and your drive and enthusiasm to successfully finish the course.

4. Do I require a laptop or iPad to do this course?

You will need to have access to a computer for your English and Maths assessment and to complete any online activity or workbooks. 

You MUST have permission to bring your Laptop and it is required you bring a laptop for both the Social Media and any IT based courses. We will ensure you have appropriate wifi internet access as required. 

5. What next & can I attend more than one course?

Please register your Learners name(s) against the course(s) you would like to attend. 

Once registered, nearer the date you will receive confirmation of your place and the precise training location along with details to complete your Maths and English assessment. 

6. How much is the course?

This course itself is fully-funded by the European Social Fund, the Local Economic Partnership, and the Skills Funding Agency. As long as you and the learner meet the eligibility criteria there will be no cost to you or your employer for the course delivery itself, other than travel expenses. Ixion agree to pay only for the course tutor, location and refreshments.
